Architectural Photography
For those of you tired of being cooped up inside all day, why not try the exciting past-time of architectural photography? Just because the idea of photographing buildings and structures might not have occurred to you before doesn't mean you won't have a whale of a time doing it.
You don't even have to go very far. Step outside of your home and pow, there are buildings and man made structures all around you. Don't worry too much about finding interesting enough buildings for your architectural photography; it's about the shot more than the subject. If you want to find exotic locations for your shoots then go for it, but architectural photography can be just as impressive when using subjects everyone has seen before to create a novel presentation.
Choosing to shoot locally will also mean you most likely know of some of the background and myths surrounding the buildings you are photographing, and you may even know some of the people that live or work in them. This gives you an excellent opportunity to turn your architectural photography in to something much deeper, enriching your images with a social context that is often lacking or distorted in photos taken by non-locals.
That is not to say you should limit yourself to what you know, as architectural photography should be about adventure and expression as much as documentation, but you should not feel pressured in to seeking out spectacular albeit empty images when there is so much more on your front door step.
